Terveisiä Ranskan rannikolta aurinkoisesta Cannesista, minne suuntautui meidän lomamatkan ensimmäinen osa. Lämpöä oli kevyet +33 minkä seurauksena sain auringonpistoksen ekana päivänä (ihan hirveetä tuskaa btw) kun kuljin ilman hattua... tästä viisaampana aina hattu päässä loppuloman ajan.
Cannesissa syötiin aamiaista meidän Apartment Hotel:in pikkuparvekkeella (lähikaupasta sai Brie:tä kahdella eurolla ja tuoretta patonkia alle eurolla!), nautittiin auringosta hiekkarannalla maaten, uitiin meressä, tuijoteltiin luksusliikkeiden ikkunoita, opittiin kantapään kautta kuinka hitsin kallista on juoda ravintolassa vettä (olis pitäny aina osata tilata hanavettä, pullotetuista ne veti n.4€ välistä itselleen vrt. kaupan hinnat...), käytiin katsastamassa filmijuhlien kuuluisa punainen matto & muun muassa löydettiin maailman paras jätskimesta.
/ Hello from sunny Cannes, where we spent the first part of our holidaytrip. There was +33°C and I got sunstroke which was horrible, but after that I remembered to drink enough and wear a hat for the rest of the holiday.
At Cannes we had a nice apartmenthotel and we ate breakfast or out little balcony (brie-cheese only costed 2 euros at the store nearby and french loafs were under 1 euro!) and we were also sunbathing on the beach, swimming in the ocean, stared the windows of the luxury shops like gucci and others, learned the expensive way that bottled water was super pricy at the restaurants (they took like 4€ extra versus the markets), we went to see the film festival's red carpet and found the best ice cream shop which we ended up visiting every day.
Meidän huoneisto oli lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä rannalta (voin suositella sitä, jos joku on menossa cannesiin!) ja sinne pääsi nopeesti vaihtamaan vaatteita tai suihkuun tai viilentymään. Liikenteessä kukaan ei juurikaan odottanut että valot vaihtuu vihreiksi ja jos halusi päästä tien yli, piti vaan seurata paikallisten liikkumista - äkkiä perässä yli jos ne lähti menemään :-D Me tykättiin molemmat Cannesista tosi paljon - siellä oli helppo kävellä ympäriinsä, sopivasti tekemistä ja hiekkarannoilla oli mukava makoilla. Hämmästeltiin myös sitä, että kertaakaan 3 päivän aika ei sinne ilmestynyt yhtä ainuttakaan pilvenhattaraa koko päivänä. Varmasti osittain myös tästä johtuen siellä oli niin kuuma, että mitä tahansa puitkin, niin sitä hikeä ihan oikeasti valui :-D
Kiivettiin yhtenä päivänä Chateau De La Castre nimisen linnan edustalle josta näkyi upeesti yli Cannesin. Sisällä on myös museo, mutta se ei ollut maanantaisin auki. Mäelle noustiin portaita talojen välistä ja matka ylös oli täysin kohtuullinen ja näkymät vaivan arvoiset! Alla oleva kuva on juurikin sieltä ylhäältä. Muuten ei sen ihmeellisemmin otettu stressiä nähtävyyksistä - lähinnä nautittiin uskomattomasta lämmöstä rannalla maaten.
/ Our apartment hotel was a short distance from the ocean (and I can recommend it if anyone's going to cannes sometime soon, just ask!) and it was easy to walk back there to change clothes or shower. When walking around the city no one actually cared about the traffic lights and never waited for them to turn green so if you actually wanted to cross the road you just had to follow the locals and run after them :-D We both liked Cannes a lot! It was easy to walk everywhere and the sand beaches were really nice. We also were surprised that there was not even one cloud on the skies after the first day which probably was also a reason why you just melted no matter what you wore :-D
On the second day we also climbed to the Chateadu De La Castre which is a castle and a museum, and the view from up there was absolutely wonderful - the museum though wasn't even open on mondays. The picture under is from up the hill and as you can see, the stair climbing was worth the view. Other than that, we didn't really take stress of doing any sightseeing - we were mostly just hanging on the beach, enjoying the warmth.
