Savonlinna Opera Festival 2014

Rakastan oopperaa. Me lähdettiin 17.7 torstai aamuna kohti savonlinnaa. Poikaystäväni ei nyt koskaan ollut käynyt oopperassa, joten totesin että jo on aika että hän saa kokea sen, mikä on yksi suurimpia intohimojani. Toki hän kuulee lähes joka päivä kun harjoittelen oopperaa kotona, mutta se nyt on ihan eri asia… Meillä oli illan ohjelmistossa George Bizetin iki-ihana Carmen. Se on yksi suosikkejani, eikä kovin raskas ooppera, jos menee katsomaan oopperaa ensimmäistä kertaa. Onneksi mun ei tarvinnut pakottaa häntä tulemaan - pikemminkin hän riemuitsi ja oli ihan ihmeellisen innoissaan siitä, että pääsee kanssani ja oppii lisää siitä mitä haluan tehdä tulevaisuudessa. Ja mitä rakastan. 

Otettiin molemmat 2 päivää vapaata töistä ja nautittiin oopperan lisäksi hyvästä seurasta, lämmöstä, savonlinnasta ja ihan vaan rentouduttiin. 

I love opera. We left to the Savonlinna opera festival on thursday morning the 17th of July. My boyfriend had never been to opera, so I decided it was time for him to experience my passion. Well, he do hears me singing opera at home almost every single day - but it's different… We went to see George Bizet's Carmen because it's one of my favourites and it's not that heavy for your first opera experience. Gladly I didn't have to make him come - he was more than happy to join me and lear more about what I actually wanna do. And what I love. 

We took 2 days off from work and enjoyed the amazing weather, good company and of course the opera.

Löydettiin hullun kiva pizzapaikka joka ei ollu kovin kaukana hotellilta pienen etsimisen jälkeen. Sen nimi oli Pizzeria Capero joten jos ikinä eksytte Savonlinnaan, syökää siellä! Pizzat ainakin oli sikahyvät ja mä rakastuin sisustukseen niin täysin, että oli pakko ottaa kuvia. Itse en niinkään välitä pizzasta, söin tuolla pestopohjaisen rucola-mozzarella-parmakinkku-tomaatti pizzan, joka itseasiassa oli ihan sairaan hyvää. Söin koko pizzan joten se oikeesti oli sika hyvää. Shoppailtiin myös vähän aikamme kuluksi, syötiin jätskit ja ehdittiin hotellille just sopivasti kun kuultiin ukkonen. Ei onneks tullu kun vähän sadetta, ja sekin muuttu auringonpaisteeksi myöhemmin. 

We found a super nice pizza place not far from our hotel. The food was excellent, and I fell so badly in love with the interior I had to take photos… love the wall! I had very fresh tasting rucola-mozzarella-tomato pizza, and even though I don't really like pizza - I ate the whole pizza by myself! So it really tasted good. We did some shopping before we got our hotel room and had ice cream - and we made it just in time to the hotel when we heard the thunder. Luckily it went away and we only got little rain which turned into sunshine later. 

Söimme illallista olavinlinnan lähistöllä ennen oopperaa. Ruoka oli erinomaista, ja vaikka pieni sadekuuro pääsi meidät yllättämää, ei se pilannut tunnelmaa sillä istuimme pienessä huvimajassa. Täysin vatsoin vaelsimme Olavinlinnaan nauttimaan oopperasta loppuillan ajaksi. 

We had dinner before the Opera, near the castle. Food was excellent, and even though we had a little rain, it did not ruin anything because we were seated in a little summerhouse. And with a full stomach we headed to see the Opera.

I had amazing 2-days holiday and enjoyed the opera. 

I hope I'm gonna be on stage at the Savonlinna Opera Festival one day…

Follow your passion - PYHÄNIEMI part ll

Sunnuntai 29.Kesäkuuta / The 29th of June 

Ylijumalia ja Jumalaisia diivoja -illalliskonsertti 

Yllättäen sainkin töistä vapaata ja pääsin kuuntelemaan tätä upeaa konserttia, jossa illan esiintyjinä olivat oopperalaulajat Johanna Rusanen-Kartano, Mika Kares sekä orkesterin roolissa pianisti Johannes Piirto. Tämä oli minulle hieno tilaisuus päästä näkemään kahta ihailemaani Oopperalaulajaa ja tietysti nauttimaan uskomattoman kauniista musiikista. Ooppera, ja ylipäätänsä klassinen musiikki on erittäin lähellä sydäntäni ja toivottavasti tulee säilymään tulevaisuudessa työurallani mukana. 

 Hoidin pieniä assistentin hommia kuten vein esiintyjille tarjoiluja, valokuvasin tapani mukaan tapahtumaa ja ympäristöä, sekä nautin konsertista ja sen jälkeisestä illallisesta. Tällä kertaa suurin osa työntekijöistä oli jo tuttuja ja tunsin oloni todella tervetulleeksi. Viihdyin jälleen erinomaisesti ja vaikka oli väsyttävää matkustaa edes takaisin, oli se joka minuutin arvoista. 

 Sain myös tavata sekä Johanna Rusanen-Kartanon että Mika Kareksen. Kareksen kanssa tuli juteltua enemmänkin, ja oli uskomattoman inspiroivaa saada vinkkejä laulamiseen ja siihen liittyviin asioihin ihmiseltä, joka tekee sitä työkseen. Kaikin puolin nautin äärettömän paljon, minkä saattoi huomata myös tehokkaasti naamallani pysyneessä virneessä, sekä hienostuneissa tasajalkapompuissa kun sain yhteiskuvan oopperalaulajien kanssa. 

 Tunnelma sekä konsertissa että illallisella oli rento ja miellyttävä ja ruoka oli todella erinomaista.

Surprisingly I got free from work and I got the chance to go to this wonderful concert, where opera singers Johanna Rusanen-Kartano and Mika Kares performed, having a pianist Johannes Piirto as the orchestra. This was an absolutely amazing chance for me to see these too opera singers I admire and to of course enjoy very beautiful music. I really love opera, and especially classical music is what I enjoy. I hope I can have it with me in the future wherever I'm working. 

 I did some small jobs as an assistant for example brought snack to the performers, did some photographing and enjoyed the concert and dinner. This time I already knew most of the co-workers, and I felt warmly welcomed. I again liked this evening a lot, and even though it was tiring to travel there and back on one day, it was definitely worth every minute. 

 I also got to meet with Johanna Rusanen-Kartano and Mika Kares. I talked more with Kares, and it was amazingly inspiring to get professional tips to singing and stuff related to it from a person who actually does it for living. Anyway, I enjoyed a lot. You could've maybe see it from the grin I had the whole evening and the jumps I made after I got photo with the performers. 

 Atmosphere was calm and pleasing and the food was excellent.

Right now is life

Anteeksi, että olette joutuneen odottelemaan. Yllätyksekseni pääsin matkaan myös viime sunnuntaina, ja muuten olen ollut töissä ja muut hommat ovat pitäneet kiireisinä. Ollakseni ihan rehellinen - olen monena päivänä vaan kaatunut sänkyyn silkasta väsymyksestä.

Sorry to keep you waiting. As a surprise I also got to work on last sunday (and all the other days my actual work and other things has kept me busy). To be honest, I've just collapsed on my bed almost every day after work because I've just been too tired for anything else. 

Pyhäniemen monitaidefestivaalit 2014 osa I / Pyhäniemi art festival 2014 Part I

… Tänä kesänä sain tuttavani kautta upean mahdollisuuden työskennellä (vapaaehtoisena) Pyhäniemen kartanon monitaidefestivaaleilla, Hollolassa. Otin tämän tilaisuuden ilman muuta vastaan, sillä rakastan kulttuuria sen kaikissa muodoissa - Pyhäniemeä erityisesti ajatellen - musiikkina ja taiteena. Hollolaan on tietysti vähän pitkä matka matkustaa edestakaisin, mutta onneksi junalla pääsee nopeasti lahteen ja olen saanut autokyydin perille ja takaisin. Itse inhoan autolla ajamista, näin tunnustukseksi. Mutta tässäpä teille tarinaa ja kuvia perjantailta & sunnuntailta. Molemmat päivät oli ihan mahtavia!

… This summer I got this amazing chance to work (as a volunteer) at the Pyhäniemi art festival 2014, at Hollola, Finland. I of course accepted this opportunity, because I love culture - with it's every form - Specially arts and music. It's a little long way to travel there for a day, but luckily the train is really fast and I got a ride. I hate driving. Just to confess. But here's a story and photos from Friday and Sunday. I had absolutely great time!

Perjantai 27. kesäkuuta / Friday 27th of June

Avajaiset 

Perjantain matkustin Helsingin rautatieasemalta yhteiskuljetuksella kohti Pyhäniemen Kartanon avajaistilaisuutta. Jännitystä oli ilmassa, minkä huomasi ehkä myös siitä, että sain kenkäkriisin 5minuuttia ennen lähtöä, ja lopputuloksena jalkaan päätyi sandaalit ja kämpän lattialle jäi 5 paria korkokenkiä sikin sokin… Raekuuro yllätti puolessa välissä matkaa, mutta ehjänä päästiin perille.
 Tehtävänä mulla oli valokuvata avajaisia ja sen lisäksi tehdä kaikennäköstä pientä assistentin hommaa. Avajaisissa keskityin oikeastaan vain valokuvaamiseen, mikä oli oikein kivaa. Ilma oli vähän kylmä ja sateinen, mutta se ei menoa haitannut! Avajaispäivä koostui ympäri kartanoa ja piha-aluetta ympäri vaeltaen, taidenäyttelyä silmäillen ja noin. 400 kuvaa räpsien. Ihaninta ehkä oli, että sai oikeasti pukeutua tätä tilasuutta varten - oli pukukoodit ja kaikki. Itse päädyin valokuvaajan roolissa housuasuun ja päähineeksi keksin kukkaseppeleen. Onnistunut oli kokonaisuus, ja olin ikionnellinen että olin valinnut housut, koska iltaa myöten oli TODELLA kylmä. Täydellisesti rakastuin housupukuni kuvioon, joka on jotenkin tosi kreikkalainen.
En oikein enää tiedä mitä kirjottaisin, joten annan kuvien kertoa lopun tarinaa!

The Opening

On Friday I travelled (with a rented bus for the guests) to the Opening ceremony of the art festival. I was soooooo excited, and well something about my excitement tells the shoe crisis I got five minutes before leaving. I left 5 pairs of heels around the floor for evidence and left wearing sandals. We got some hail on the way there, but we survived to the festival. With a little rain following us. 

My job was to photograph the festival and do some little things as an assistant. In the opening I was mostly just photographing which was nice. I was quite cold and a little rainy but that wouldn't slow things down. The opening day was for me just walking around the huge country house and the area around it and I took approximately 400 pictures. Probably the best thing was that I actually got to dress up for this event. I chose a women's suit (I thought it would suit better for a photographer) and for the headdress I chose a flower band. It worked out really well and I was supper happy later in the evening that I had chosen pants because it was super cold. I just love the pattern of the suit! It somehow reminds me of Greece. 

I don't know really what else to write, so I let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

I spent three days at Pyhaniemi art festival. The next post that'll be about the first dinner and concert I surprisingly got to go, so stay tuned :-)

Juhannus / Midsummer

En erityisemmin itse pidä juhannuksen juhlinnasta, joten siksi minulle olikin pelastus olla töissä juhannusaattona. Loput viikonlopusta oli kuitenkin minulle ja poikaystävälle sitä harvinaista yhteistä aikaa, ja mentiin aamusta käymään linnanmäelle yhdessä. Muuten vietettiin 'juhannusta' grillailten, saunoen ja ihan vaan löhöillen. Pääsinpähän kuitenkin auringon säteiden pilkistäessä juoksemaan niitylle kukkaseppele päässä - siinä minulle ihan tarpeeksi juhannusta. En vaan ikinä saa tarpeekseni kukkaseppeleistä. Meen varmaan naimisiinkin sellanen hiuksilla! Tässä kuitenkin kuvia keskikesän viikonlopusta ja juhannusseppeleestäni. Toivottavasti teillä kaikilla oli oikein ihana juhannus!

We celebrate midsummer in Finland every year. I really don't mind celebrating it, so for me it was a relief to work on friday (day before midsummer's day). I had free from work rest of the weekend and so did my boyfriend, so we went to Linnamäki amusement park on saturday morning, and then we just enjoyed the free weekend - simply taking easy together, grilled a bit outside and went to sauna. Well I did get the change to go running to the fields wearing a flower band when the sun showed up - that's enough of the midsummer fest for me. I'll just never get enough of flower bands. I'm probably gonna get married wearing one… but back to this -  Here's some pictures of my midsummer!

Hot showers on a rainy day

            Kylpyhuoneemme / Our bathroom

Ihan ensimmäiseksi hiukan uutisia…  Kuten otsikosta jo ehkä huomaa, meitä asuu nyt täällä kaksi. Kyseessä on suuri muutos ja luultavasti aikaakin menee ennenkuin oikeesti opitaan asumaan toistemme kanssa ja totutaan siihen että jaetaan jokapäiväinen arki. Mutta tämä on myös samaan aikaan ihaninta mitä mulle on tapahtunut pitkään aikaan. Nyt saa rakentaa kotia. Yhdessä. Meidän kotia. 

At first…  There is two of us now living in this apartment. It's a big change and surely takes time 'till we're both used to live with each other. At the same time it's the best thing for a long time that has happened to me. I love to build home - now together. Our home. 

Niinkuin jo viimeksi lupailinkin, niin kylppäristä olis seuraavaksi luvassa postausta. Tässä siis meidän kylpyhuone jonka oikeastaan sisustin lähes kokonaan uudestaan. Meitsin purkeille ja puteleille ja tuoksuville rasvoille on onneks tarpeeks kaappitilaa haha! 

As I last time promised, here is now our bathroom. I changed pretty much everything in there and all the stuff is mine and did not belong in the bathroom (except of course toilet and all else 'stable' stuff). I'm happy there is enough room for all my perfumes and lotions.. haha! 

Mitäs pidätte? Mun lemppari on tuo pyykkikori! Ja kuuma suihkunu kylmänä sadepäivänä. Yngh, paleltaa!
