Mun ihanat aamut / My lovely mornings

Ihan vaan itelleen. Ilman Helsingin Sanomia on tosin vähän orpo olo.

What I simply love most now when I'm living on my own are mornings. My apartment is full of light when I wake up, and my favourite part is definitely when I can make a cup of coffee with my own coffeemaker. Just for me. And just the way I want it. I've been so lucky, that I've had a lot of peaceful mornings. I've had time to make breakfast the way I want and enjoy it with no hurry. Without the daily newspaper it's been quite lonely though. I used to read it every morning while I was still living with my mom.

Anyway, here's a collage of pictures of my lovely mornings. They're awesome.

So I guess I'm a morning person.

Hyvää kansainvälistä naistenpäivää! / Happy international women's day!

Naistenpäivän aamuni starttasi sydämenmuotoisilla mini omeleteilla, joissa oli tuoretta pinaattia, tuoretta chiliä ja tomaattia sekä kupillisella Pukka:n vihreää detox teetä. Ja lasissa on IKEA:sta ostettu puolukkapillimehu.

I started my morning with heart-shaped mini omelets with fresh spinach, fresh chili and tomato and a cup of Pukka green detox tea. In the glass I have cowberry juice I bought from IKEA.

Äitini oli varannut meidän perheen naisille naistenpäiväbrunssin KIILA food & bar:ista, jonne matkasin sitten nauttimaan brunssin äidin, siskon ja siskontytön kanssa. Nam!

My mother took all the girls in our family for a saturday brunch to the KIILA food & bar. So I then enjoyed a tasty brunch with my mom, my sister and my niece. Yummy!

Selvisinpä tuoltakin takaisin kotiin, ja pahoinvoivana, nuhaisena sekä kipeän oloisena taidan vain viettää loppupäivän lempipöksyihin pukeutuneena & teetä litkien oman sängyn pohjalla.

I do survived back home but I feel sick. My nose is running like a waterfall and my head feels weird. I don't want to be sick (again!) so I might just spend rest of the day drinking tea and wearing my favourite sweatpants and just lie in my own bed.

Sai hymyn ainakin mun huulille.

As I enjoy having a headache and being sick, I wish wonderful women's day to all women out there! I hope you've had a nice day and someone remembered to wish you happy women's day. At least we got  to enjoy some lovely sunshine today (spring is coming!) which made me smile.

Muutto / Moving out

Nyt on sitten muutettu pois kotoa. Ihan omaan kotiin. Ihan huippua. Vaikka onhan täällä välillä yksinäistä. Kai tähänkin tottuu.

I moved out on my own. Own home. It happened faster than I thought it would but this is awesome. Just simply awesome. Even though it's sometimes a bit lonely here. I guess you get used to it.

Kiitos teille! Sain niillä kuitenkin muun muassa ruokapöydän ja muuta tarpeellista kodin tavaraa. Mikä on tietenkin ihan huippua. Kurjaa oli lattialla syödä. (Vaikka olihan se lattialla muuttolaatikon päällä syöty pakastepizzaillallinen aika romanttinen…)

I am currently trying to get this apartment to look like a home, so you'll get a blogpost(s) when it starts to look like a home here. Here is way too many cardboard boxes (and other boxes) that are still full of clothes and other stuff. But I promise post soon! About the furniture - I got most of it from home. I thank all of you who attended my graduation party. I got a lot of things from you and those I now use in my own home. I also had to make the compulsory trip to IKEA where I used the money I got as a present from different guests in my graduation party. Thank you. I got for example a table and some other stuff I needed. Which is awesome 'cause I now have a table and four chairs. It wasn't that nice to eat on the floor. (Even though that pizza I ate on the floor on a cardboard box was quite romantic…)

Special thanks to my father, my mother, my sister and my brother and of course to my boyfriend. I also want to say thanks to all who helped me moving out. Without you I would've been in trouble.

Monday

Tee-se-itse -raakasuklaapaketti

Näin tylsän maanantain kunniaksi päätin vihdoinkin kokeilla raakasuklaata, kun himoitsin kaikennäköistä makeaa, epäterveellistä herkkua. Erityisesti suklaata.

Yksinkertaista!

Raw-chocolate-starter-kit

Today I tried to make raw chocolate when I was craving for sweets. Especially chocolate. I've had this ''raw-chocolate-starter-kit'' (as I call it) for a while now and I've just been too lazy to try it out. But today I did! I surprised how easy it was and how tasty the chocolate is when it's ready! Pretty heavy though.

Do you remember the raw cake I made and which I did not put in the oven? Well this works the same way (though this is a lot easier)! You don't need to heat up the chocolate at any point. All you need is a bowl and kitchen sink (with a plug so the water stays there) where you can put the bowl into a warm water. And a fridge. Simple isn't it?

Tämä kaikki löytyi siis pakkauksen sisältä! All this was inside the box!

Kookosrasva vesihauteessa / the warm water melts the coconut oil

Taikina / dough

Goji-marjoja / Goji-berries

Ei se maanantai tunnu enään niin hirveältä.

Monday doesn't seem to be that horrible anymore.

In the kitchen of Henri & Dora

Welcome to the kitchen

I'm not trying to turn my blog into a food blog (not yet at least). While I'm still thinking something smart or interesting to write about, I thought I'd introduce my boyfriend's excellent cooking skills. Don't get it wrong, I do cook too. We cook together. (I usually do the salad and he actually cooks. I'm better at baking stuff.)

As we hopefully move out together, you will probably get even more food posts. Easy food for weekdays. With a student budget. Most likely. Here's first post from our kitchen.

Chicken with pesto and garlic, served with spinach pasta
&
Easy salad

Enjoy!

Easy salad

Salad, cucumber, tomato, avocado, cottage cheese, carrot, basil leaves. That's it pretty much.

Chicken with pesto and garlic
 served with spinach pasta

- finely chop the garlic
- fry the chicken with the pesto and garlic in a pan (with some oil)
- if you like you can add some flavor with pepper and salt
- cook the pasta

Place the pasta on a deep plate and put the chicken over it. Decorate with some more pesto and with a few basil leaves.

I defitinely recommend you try this out. It was so good.

Dora & Henri

ps. I might change into writing in finnish. Or if I'm feeling super, I might write with both languages. What do you think?
